Under the terms of the agreement, Stelco will continue to outsource to EDS Canada information technology support and development services for most of the steelmaker's locations across Canada. In addition, EDS Canada will' implement new enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for Stelco's order flow, maintenance, procurement, human resources and finance functions.This agreement supports Stelco's strategic plan from an IT perspective and provides a number of important benefits to Stelco in an efficient and cost-effective manner,' said James Alfano, president and chief executive officer of Stelco.

Alfano said that implementing the ERP solution would help Stelco generate production and operational efficiencies without increasing his company's IT costs.
